This was an exciting project for me. I have been commissioned to create a necklace/earrings set to be worn at two weddings - one in the US of A and then another time in Jamaica. Its been a joy creating this set for someone I've not met in person but who's personality - based on our email convos - resonates with similarity to someone I'm more than familiar with......meself! Her language style, sense of humour, perspectives ...........so it was not difficult to put my heart and soul into this; not that I don't do the same for all my creations ;p She showed me images of the dress she will wear to the wedding in the US....her daughter's Summer garden wedding and shortly after she flies to Jamaica for her son's 'destination' wedding. The theme of the first wedding - bridesmaids/attendants is teal/aqua; the 2nd wedding has more or less the same color scheme. Her dress is a sort of smokey pink.....I don't have anything in my wardrobe that is close to what she's wearing so I decided to use this smokey lilac top to show off the set I've created for her.

A concoction of faceted green amethyst, mystic teal quartz and similar tone freshwater pearls have been used to create the necklace whose base is a sturdy goldfilled rolo chain. Just to add a little more sparkle - not visible in the photos - I've included some moonstone rondells.

The earrings are a gorgeous set of faceted quartz, a shade lighter than the necklace - we do want some pomp and pizzaz and don't want to appear too 'matchy matchy' - with light green amethyst rondells and the same mystic teal rondells from the necklace.

Remember the 3 custom orders above, I did a few months back....well, we now get to see the jewellery on the beautiful bride.

Earlier this year, I received a request from a young lady who was referred to me by another bride for whom I had created jewellery to be worn on her special day.

The difference was, at that point in time, the bride-to-be was in Melbourne. No problems there. She was very specific about what she wanted, sent me photos of her intended wedding gown and evening dress and she was clear in mind about what she wanted to wear with her 2 outfits.

First 2 bracelets - remember the cuff and the double strand pearl bracelets, well, those were hand carried to Melbourne by my other customer and it looked like everything was on track and ready for the big day which was sometime in September.

Closer to the date, I received a request for a pair of earrings as the evening gown had changed ;p
It was a close call as I had houseguests and was preparing for my trip to Beijing. But "never fear, Bel is here"..........and the rest is happy history!

There are no sapphires featured in this gorgeous pair but the aqua quartz brios have the same shade as the alcohol Bombay Sapphire - not that I drink it, but just saying ;p

Anyway, whilst I do try very hard to keep my prices affordable without losing money whilst doing it, I have to say that this pair, which costs a little more than my usual, features really lovely, large half drilled pale ash pearls which i've set in equally gorgeous earposts and connecting the aqua quartz to the posts, I've added a cluster of mystic grey, diamond quartz rondelles. The actual creation looks extremely lush and luxe and are perfect for an elegant evening function or for a bride. So, I'll be uploading this to my other blog too.

Simple perfection. Inspired by another pair I did for a bride who is having just a civil ceremony followed by a garden reception. She is having the rest of her 'celebrations' out of Singapore so for this ceremony, she just wanted a simple pair of pearl drops without any embellishments. She will be wearing a short ivory sun dress.

I've done a modification to the original - Half drilled, Mother of Pearl, drops measuring approx 15mm x 10mm, goldfilled chain and lovely lotus flower pads. Drop of 3.5cm. I wanted 'perfect' pearls so I've chosen these half drilled MOP brios which have a nice 'finish' as the base is clearly flawless.

Another gorgeous bride will walk down the aisle come May 1st. The bride has chosen this lush emerald green gown and her celebrations will be held at a trendy boutique hotel where she's chosen deep amethyst table settings. Definitely avant garde and the jewellery would reflect accordingly. We decided on this set of amethyst brios and I've finished them off with chrome diopside, shaded amethyst, prehnite and white topaz rondells. The photos don't show up the gorgeous greens that really complement the deep purples, but in reality they will be perfect for this radiant and very lovely bride.

There was a short burst of sunlight this morning and I took tonnes of photos of this dreamy pair but the light kept shifting and so did my piece of work. These are the best of at least 60+ photos I took this morning!
For a bride who will be wearing a royal blue gown for her photoshoot - royal blue, like sapphire, chiffon, with medium tone green satin beneath - based on her description we went thru' a 'small' selection process of brios I thought would complement her lovely gown. Finally settled on these lapis briolettes with a generous sprinkling of aquamarine, moonstone, apatite, lapis, prehnite, chrysoprase and iolite gemstones. Simple sterling silver earstuds with a drop of approx 7 cm.
Needless to say the actual earrings are way prettier than my photos.

Just like the dessert wine Maderia, this delectable huge honey tone briolette is a lab grown Maderia Quartz measuring 26mm x 18mm. Beautiful facetting makes this shimmer each time a ray of light passes thru' it. Surrounding this beauty is a cluster of smooth hessonite rondells and for just that extra bit of spice I've added faceted puffy pointed golden citrine briolettes, and faceted smokey quartz ovals. Gold filled wire and 24k gold vermeil ball pins have been used. Moving along to the necklace I've used elongated, hexagonal, faceted beer quartz, gold filled beads, light smokey quartz faceted ovals and faceted champagne quartz rondells. Perfect for a bride who choses to wear Duchess satin ivory or champagne for her wedding gown.

Necklace ends with a gold filled chain towards the back and measures slightly under 18"/45cm and the centrepiece drios 1-1/2" or 3.5 cm.

Amethyst also happens to be the gemstone for those born in the month of February.

Whilst the amethyst has many wonderful natural properties I also tend to associate it with love and romance. I love the rose quartz stone...good quality ones that is. They have to be just that right tinge of pink, translucent and with excellent facetting. These stones are a case in point. Beautifully translucent, excellent facetting and huge to boot. AAA grade without a doubt.
To complement these beauties, I've added equally drool worthy garnets in 3 shapes, rondell, onion and pointy briolette. Connecting this rosy arrangement to the vermeil earposts is a pink mystic quartz rondell. Just perfect for the blushing bride or anyone else so inclined.
The collage with the stones held up to the light give a much more accurate image and interpretation of the quality of the stones involved.

I've been working on some bridal jewelry. This is to fulfill a request for a few pieces of neckwear for the bridesmaids without bursting the bride's budget. After much to-ing and fro-ing, I came up with these lace collar neck wear. She loves it! To add a little 'bridal bliss' to each piece, I used faceted crystal quartz flat briolettes. Just a little glam without outdoing the bride. I hand stitched ivory ribbons to be tied at the back of the neck. Light on the neck and even lighter on the pocket.

I've been flat out the whole day, sleeping, drinking juices and taking my medication. Woke up with a sore throat and fever yesterday morning, went to our GP who is part of the cluster of PPC's, just to make sure it isn't H1N1. It isn't. Just a bad flu thats going around. Feeling much better now and after sleeping so much, I'm going to have a problem falling asleep after this! This lovely bracelet was completed Saturday and I was supposed to have uploaded yesterday but for obvious reasons this was put on the backburner.

I keep forgetting that I have 2 blogs to maintain/update. I uploaded my away status to my other blog http://mybeadz.blogspot.com and it just dawned on me that I have to do the same here.

I will be leaving for a very short buying trip this weekend and hope to acquire not only new supplies of gemstones but other supplies to fulfill requests that have been made......stay tuned to see what surprises I have in store.

We're quite blessed. Yesterday marked Singapore's National Day - 44 years of peaceful independence. Beautiful sun shiny weather which was perfect for the celebrations planned to mark the day. Today is a public holiday in lieu of yesterday's holiday which fell on a Sunday. For all those who participated in yesterday's uniformed parade, dance and display contingents, today is a wonderful day for sleeping in since in rained in the early hours of the morning and is still cloudy with a slight drizzle. Cool, crisp air which inspired me to go thru' my minty collection. I picked out this rathr large faceted green amethyst brio approx 20 mm x 10 mm, added a cluster of faceted green, pink and purple amethyst rondells and dotted the 14k goldfilled chain with small heart shape faceted amethyst before ending off with a couple of faceted amethyst rondells. Necklace measures approx 16".

A registry wedding and a luncheon for family and friends followed.....the bride wore a short cream rose crepe dress with a cross over bodice, with a broad ruched band and then the rest of the dress was cut on a bias. Soft, dreamy and elegant. This is my impression of how the dress was tailored based on the photo she sent to me. She wanted a little glitz but gave me a budget to work within. After the registry wedding and reception, the couple and family members were flying to Bali for the actual reception and another ceremony. I used fully swarovski crystals with a large AB finish briolette as the centerpiece. Goldfilled chain, vermeil ballpins and brushed finish hand forged connector. LC was very happy with how the necklace turned out and said she was going to be wearing it for her Bali ceremony too.

I receive lots of requests/commissions from brides-to-be to customise their jewelry for their photoshoot, wedding ceremony and celebrations. As well as jewelry for the bride, I have fulfilled requests for jewelry for bridesmaids, mothers, mothers-in-law and little gifts from the bride for her attendants, helpers.

I've toyed with the idea of setting up a separate blog just for this. Finally, I've taken some time out to do so.

I'll soon fill this with pieces I'm currently working on as well as general creations that might be suitable for brides or if you just want something to glam up a special occassion.
